Built on nearly a decade of success with CLTRising in the Charlotte area, NCRising extends a proven model that helps students navigate college preparation with confidence, clarity, and individualized guidance. NCRising will offer personalized 1-on-1 college admissions advising, high-rigor SAT/ACT tutoring, and comprehensive mentorship to help motivated students in need navigate the transition to selective universities.

About NCRising

Students receive one on one support that helps them plan intentionally. This includes 1-1 academic tutoring focused on high rigor for Math and ELA, guidance on how to pursue competitive college opportunities without financial barriers standing in the way, and a community that mentors their journey in this process. The program is designed to close opportunity gaps by providing the same caliber of academic and college advising typically available to affluent families.

NCRising is for hard-working students like you! We are a program for students who are doing well in school and want support as they start planning for college in their junior year. Instead of feeling stressed during this process, we help you feel motivated in the college journey.

We support everything from building your college list and applying to schools and scholarships, to raising your SAT/ACT scores, completing the FAFSA, and writing strong personal statements and essays. You’ll also join a community of students who are working toward similar goals.

Best of all, NCRising is completely free for qualifying students and families. Our goal is to make sure talented students have access to the same high-quality college support and resources, no matter the financial background of families.

Guided by Experienced Leadership

NCRising is led by Director Jennifer Hamilton, who brings extensive experience in early talent development and student coaching. For over ten years, she has worked in building community and finding opportunities for students and young adults. She has a Bachelor’s in Business Communication and a Master’s in Educational Leadership. Along with this, as a first-generation college student, she understands how complicated and exciting the college journey can be. Helping her four brothers apply to college and complete things like FAFSA, her goal is to bring that same support to NCRising. Under her leadership, the program focuses on empowering students and families in both urban and rural communities through strong relationships, clear planning, and consistent support.

Program Launch and Recruitment

NCRising will expand to serve Cabarrus, Gaston, Catawba, Rowan, Stanley, and Davidson counties. Selected students and families will work with Ms. Hamilton to build the right advising team which will include an ELA and Math tutor, a college mentor, and a schedule that works for each family.
